So baluns are on a SO239 socket right?

i bought a 310et few months ago and was happy with the good reception and nice sound but the volume pot seems to be at end of it's life ,opened it up and cleaned it ,still problem comes back after few weeks ,it reflects clearly the price ,and don't get me started on batery life ,cause i actually like to have my radio on for hours at night and afternoons ,i have to charge it every second day ,if i knew all this i would try to collect some 50$ more and get some better version radio

Got so happy getting my china rigs. That my sister sat and called me nuts.. i went to the wallyworld and got a bolt of cloth...then made baggs for my radios. For the bags that carry the antenna and even mats to set my radios. No unun though i use 3 cut to 1/4 wave antenna then carry my antennas i choose. Salute, via con dios, chow, and avedahouen.

Yet if it wasn't for the Chinese manufacturers your desire for a radio, would just be a desire, because America doesn't make anything and if they do its not affordable. My radioshack dx-398 (Sangean ats 909) when I'm on the FM band the clock goes back 01:12 for example I correct the time to 10:00 after a few seconds the clock changes to 09:12 minutes only in FM RDS. I've done a factory reset but it didn't help. Has anyone had this problem and how did they solve it, can anyone help?

3 years on and my S350DL is working like new. I can't complain about anything except the lose tuning control. I read many reviews most being negative. It's not fair to compare this radio with more expensive portables. It's a good broadcast radio, it only cost 59€ and the sound is much better than any portables I've heard. You can use D or double AAs plus the switch in the back allows you to switch between batteries. How's that for an "EL Cheapo" radio?

Man anglo accents work so terribly on shortwave. Just blends in with the static a lot.

Always wondered what Capital Gold would have sounded like without the static… it just added to the authentic feeling of old vinyl.

It's a really beautiful portable. Almost Sony-like.

Found a Sony ICF-2003 from the thrift outlet for $2 earlier this year. That was my introduction to shortwave. It needed a little work to get going, but it's been interesting seeing what this thing can pick up with just a bit of wire.

I had a realistic dx-398 was the radio that got me exited about short wave radio, loved that radio had it hooked up to a huge wire outside, used it up until one unfortunate night when lightning struck the antenna and blew it up along with my tv. Decades later would get the ats-909x and later the 909x2, they still maintain very similar interfaces

I have a 20$ sw radio (clooblut) with just a 12ish foot cable in an L to my bedroom ceiling and a 16" square or so piece of aluminum foil hanging from the off the end. I live in Maine and can hear turkey, aus, NZ etc. Pretty sure I can get some stations in better than a web sdr I use out of DC lol Addicted to swl now. It's just too bad radios are basically no longer being made and the cheaply made chinese ones are way overpriced/questionable lifespans.

I just bought the grundig yacht boy 222 and it picks up all the shortwave radio stations perfectly I have that Global 2000 tuner antenna like yours for the wire antenna and it's incredible with the strength that it picks up the emissions

Simplest idea is a wire with a crocodile clip, don't bother with coax and ununs. 👍😎❤️

If you are still reading comments.. I have looked far and wide for an answer on optimal length for a random wire antenna. All sites go into diagrams, charts, technical aspects, and formulas.. which if I knew what they were talking about, I would already know the length of wire for an antenna. My question is, how long can a wire be before it starts being to long and causing issues? From what I see, it's not necessarily the overall length, but the length corresponding to wavelengths of various bands. I just want a random wire that will increase reception on all bands, tho some may increase more than others due to frequencies, to connect to the antenna rod with alligator clips, or plug into the antenna jack, that I can throw in a backpack, or camping gear, to put over a tree limb, or even stretch along the ground if no trees. I have saw as low as 25 feet, up to 100 feet, then I see talk of long wires overloading the receiver unless you have attenuator, but I want to keep it simple. Some of my radios have a DX switch which might help there, but not all. Can you help?

I know you did this years ago but I did one years ago on how to fix a printer problum and I still have people thanking me for making it. I want to say thank you. I've watch a bunch of videos and read but they get off fast to things I don't have a clue about. I just got my little radio a week ago with a book to read but I just wanted to be able to setup something to use my new shinny radio fast and learn as I go. I heard long wire and toss it into a tree and your ready to go. I did that and got a bunch of people talking but I can't understand what they are saying. So I was getting like forget it till I read my book and was bummed I couldn't really use the radio unless it was coming in very strong. I'll try what you say ASAP. thanks
